Malaysian Politics....a game of Checkers...

Adapted from Malaysiakini:

Barisan Nasional said it now commands the majority needed to form the new state government in Perak.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said at a press conference in Putra Jaya today that the Barisan Nasional has the support of the four former Pakatan Rakyat(PR) Perak assemblymen - three will be "BN-friendly" Independents, while Nasarudin Hashim will rejoin Umno.

Following the latest development, BN and PR now have 28 seats each in the 59-seat assembly. However, the three Independent assemblymen have expressed support towards the BN.

In the March 8 national polls, Pakatan Rakyat won 32 seats against 27 Barisan seats.

All four assemblymen - Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi (PKR-Behrang), Osman Jailu (PKR-Changkat Jering), deputy Assembly Speaker Hee Yit Foong (DAP-Jelapang) and Nasarudin (Bota) - were with Najib at the press conference.

Najib, who took over as Perak Umno liaison and BN chief from former Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Tajol Rosli following Nasarudin's "brief" defection to PKR, said he will meet the Sultan as soon as possible.

He said it is up to the Sultan to decide on Nizar's request for dissolution of the assembly.

Najib said that the three state Pakatan Rakyat representatives have submitted resignation letters to their former parties and have informed the Sultan of their resignation.

"They have also given BN the mandate to select a new Menteri Besar for Perak," he said

At the same venue, Nasarudin denied the claim that he had been abducted.

Najib added that under Article 16(6) of the Perak constitution, if the menteri besar loses the confidence of the people, he is required to resign, together with all the exco members under him.

However, the final decision now hinges on the Sultan of Perak - if he wants to accede to a Pakatan request for dissolution or allows BN to form a new government.

Politics in Malaysia nowadays is like a game of checkers. Ruling party and the opposition party each trying to "eat" as many MPs as possible.
Rules of the game Checkers, in case anyone has no idea what the game is about:

Checkers (Draughts) is played by two people, on opposite sides of a playing board, alternating moves. One player has dark pieces, and the other has light pieces. It is against the rules for one player to move the other player's pieces. The player with the dark pieces makes the first move unless stated otherwise. Pieces move diagonally and pieces of the opponent are captured by jumping over them. The playable surface consists only of the dark squares. A piece may only move into an unoccupied square. Capturing is mandatory in most official rules, however, many people still play with variant rules that allow capturing to be optional. A piece that is captured is removed from the board. In all variants, the player who has no pieces left or cannot move anymore has lost the game unless otherwise stated.

And it looks like our Deputy Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Najib is a better player afterall....

Dato' Seri Najib: I am the king of Checkers!!!!

It's really sad looking at how our MPs fooling around, toying with the people's trust and "entertain" us with thrillers and dramas instead of focusing on the welfare of the people...The people nowadays are choosing their "best actors or actresses" instead of people that truly represent them (in the next GE, give us better looking ones....)...what a disappointment...

Obama's inauguration....YES WE CAN!!!

Barack Obama, after a long struggle with his enemy-turned-ally, Hilary Clinton and John McCain finally won his bedroom in the Whitehouse and a desk in the oval office. He has created a new American history, that is being the First African American to become the President of the United States which previously is exclusively to only white..really white people....(That's how Whitehouse got his name, the "white" house...)

Now, Obama is set to hold the title of "the most powerful man in the world"....

Let's hope that he can do a better job than this guy...Yes He Can!!!

George "Dubya" Bush, the most entertaining president in history

Obama is set to turn things right. Can he do it? Yes he can!!! Can we trust him?? Yes We Can!!! Obama has the will of steel, strong determination and the muscle to get the job done, and nothing is going to stop him....

Let's hope our next prime minister will set things right for Malaysia too....

But seriously, I don't really have much faith in him....don't know why.....
