Too old or Not too old?

Recently, I stumbled across an interesting statement made by certain quarters:

"The curret DNA sample is too old...."

I thought for a while...didn't some scientists tried to clone the dinosaurs using their DNA...and that sample is a few BILLION years old...(Maybe I watched too much Jurassic Park......)

Not only this, some forensics are able to determine the victim's or the criminal's identity using the DNA which is more than 10 years old.

I am not a scientist or an expert biologist..so I can't comment on anything.
